未知牝牡之合而全作，精之至也。
Not yet to have known the union of male and female, but to be completely formed, means that the vital force is at its height;
终日号而不嗄，和之至也。
to be able to scream all day without getting hoarse means that the harmony is at its perfection.
知和曰常，知常曰明。
To understand such harmony is to understand the always so. #2 To understand the always-so is to be illumined.
益生曰祥。
But to fill life to the brim is to invite omens.
心使气曰强。
If the heart makes calls upon the life-breath, rigidity follows.
物壮则老，谓之不道，不道早已。
Whatever has a time of vigour also has a time of decay. #2 Such things are against Tao, and whatever is against Tao is soon destroyed.
塞其兑，闭其门，挫其锐，解其分，和其光，同其尘，是谓玄同。
Block the passages, shut the doors, let all sharpness be blunted, all tangles untied, all glare tempered, all dust smoothed, this is called the mysterious leveling.
故不可得而亲，不可得而疏；不可得而利，不可得而害；不可得而贵，不可得而贱，故为天下贵。
He who has achieved it cannot either be drawn into friendship or repelled, cannot be benefited, cannot be harmed, cannot either be raised or humbled, and for that very reason is highest of all creatures under heaven.
