第1條 為制定及推行共同一致之標準，並促進標準化，謀求改善產品、過程及服務之品質、增進生產效率、維持生產、運銷或消費之合理化，以增進公共福址，特制定本法。
Article 1 This Act is set up for the purpose of the establishment and use of uniform standards in order to promote standardization; to pursue quality improvement for products, processes, and services; to increase productivity; and to ensure adequacy of production, transportation, marketing and consumption so as to promote public safety.
第2條 本法主管機關為經濟部。
Article 2 The competent authority to enforce this Act is the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
關於標準事項，由經濟部設專責機關辦理。
The MOEA will appoint a specific agency to carry out mandated matters of standardization.
本法規定事項，涉及其他機關之職掌者，由主管機關會商有關機關辦理之。
Where provisions set forth in this Act involve other government agencies, the competent authority shall consult and coordinate with the concerned government agencies.
第3條 本法用詞定義如下：

三認證：主管機關對特定人或特定機關(構)給予正式認可，證明其有能力執行特定工作之程序。

Accreditation: a procedure by which the competent authority gives formal recognition that a person or body is competent to carry out specific tasks.
五國家標準：由標準專責機關依本法規定之程序制定或轉訂，可供公眾使用之標準。

National Standard: a standard that is established or adopted by the government agency that regulates standards (the standards body) pursuant to this Act, and is made available to the public.
六國際標準：由國際標準化組織或國際標準組織所採用，可供公眾使用之標準。

International Standard: a standard that is adopted by an international standardizing/standards organization and made available to the public.
第4條 國家標準採自願性方式實施。

第6條 標準專責機關設國家標準審查委員會(以下簡稱審查委員會)及各專門類別之國家標準技術委員會(以下簡稱技術委員會)，負責審議國家標準相關事項。
Article 6 The standards body shall establish the National Standards Review Council (hereinafter referred to as “Review Council”) and National Standards Technical Committees (hereinafter referred to as “Technical Committees”) based on different categories of specialties.
They will be responsible for reviewing and making suggestions on matters relevant to national standards.
前項審查委員會及技術委員會，必要時均得於其下分設各專門類別之分組委員會或工作小組委員會。
The Review Council and the Technical Committees may, when necessary, set up Sub-Committees or Working Groups based on different categories of specialties.
第7條 國家標準制定之程序如下：

前項制定程序及國家標準之修訂、確認、廢止程序，由主管機關以辦法定之。
The competent authority shall stipulate measures for the procedure of establishing national standards, as well as procedures for amendment, reaffirmation and revocation of national standards.
第8條 已有相關國際標準或我國團體標準存在，而其適用範圍、等級、條件及水準等均適合我國國情者，標準專責機關得據以轉訂為我國家標準。
Article 8 The standards body may adopt related international standards or domestic group standards that already exist when the scope, grade, condition and level of application are appropriate to domestic circumstances.
依前項轉訂為國家標準時，得不經前條第一項第二款及第三款規定之程序。
National standards that are adopted in accordance with the preceding paragraph may bypass the procedures required in subparagraphs 2 and 3, paragraph 1, Article 7.
第9條 國家標準自公布之日起五年內，無修訂之建議時，標準專責機關應加以確認。

第10條 標準專責機關依職權或申請，經審查委員會審議，選定國家標準項目，實施驗證業務；必要時，並得經審查委員會審議，取消該選定。

Such designation may be revoked after review of the Review Council, where necessary.

第11條 標準專責機關對前條選定之國家標準項目，得依廠商之申請實施驗證；

經驗證合於驗證條件及程序者，得核准其使用正字標記。
Those that have met the certification requirements and procedures will be permitted to use the Chinese National Standards Mark (CNS Mark).
