Once when King Cheng and Tang-shu Yu were both at leisure, King Cheng cut off the leaf of a paulownia tree and, treating it as if it were a tablet of investiture, presented it to Tang-shu Yu, saying, “By virtue of this object, I hereby confer a state upon you.” Tang-shu Yu was delighted at this and told the Duke of Zhou about it.
