When Zifang saw this from afar, he thought he was looking at the equipage of a ruler.
黃金之勒，約鎮簟席，如此者，其駟八十乘。
子方望之，以為人君也，道狹，下抵車而待之。
The road was narrow, so he got out and stood close to his carriage to let the procession pass.
翟黃至而睹其子方也，下車而趨，自投下風，曰：「觸。
As Zhai Huang approached, he recognized Zifang, got down from his carriage, hurried over, and in a deferential manner said, “I’m here.” “So it’s you!” said Zifang.

“When I saw you from a distance just now, I guessed that you must be the ruler of a state—only when you drew near did I realize you were an officer.
吾嚮者望子，疑以為人君也，子至而人臣也。
將何以至此乎？
How have you managed to become so grand?” “These things were all conferred on me by his lordship,” said Zhai Huang.
翟黃對曰：「此皆君之所以賜臣也，積三十歲，故至於此。
I have been accumulating them for thirty years—that’s why I have so much.
時以閒暇，祖之曠野，正逢先生。
」子方曰：「何子賜車輿之厚也？」
I had nothing to do just now, so I came out to the countryside here, and now we have met.” “How did the carriages you were given come to be so splendid?” asked Zifang.
