And there are eleven whom I treat as friends.” “By treating three people as fathers,” said Kongzi, “you can teach filial behavior; by treating five people as elder brothers, you can teach fraternal respect; and, by treating eleven people as friends, you can teach people to learn from each other.
」曰：「不齊也所父事者三人，所兄事者五人，所友者十一人。
These are affairs of the middle sort and will cause people of middle stature to draw near to you.
」孔子曰：「父事三人，可以教孝矣；兄事五人，可以教弟矣；友十一人，可以教學矣。
中節也，中民附矣，猶未足也。」
