」對曰：「患善惡之不分。
“How can such matters be investigated?” asked the marquis.
」公曰：「何以察之？
“Judge and select your attendants,” Yanzi replied.
」對曰：「審擇左右，左右善，則百僚各得其所宜而善惡分。
“If your attendants are good, then the hundred officers will each find his appropriate place, and the good and the evil among them will be distinct.” When Kongzi heard of this he said, “Those words can be relied on. When the good are advanced, then those who are not good have no way to enter.
」孔子聞之曰：「此言也信矣。
善進，則不善無由入矣，不善進，則善亦無由入矣。」
When those who are not good are advanced, then the good have no way to enter.
