When people do good things, Heaven will repay them with blessings; when people do bad things, Heaven will repay them with disasters.
Therefore, it is said that ‘disasters are where incipient blessings lurk, and blessings are where incipient disasters crouch.’29 One must be on guard; one must be cautious.
If a man of quality does not take this to heart, how can he be prepared?
If one understands the principles of Heaven above, then one will not miss timely opportunities, and, if one understands the principles of earth below, one will not lose one’s possessions.
If one is careful night and day, one will remain free from disaster.
