The assembled officers wished the emperor long life and said, “Your Highness has obtained a Zhou vessel.” Of those present, only the palace attendant Yuqiu Shouwang25 did not follow suit but said instead, “This is not a Zhou vessel.” When the emperor heard of this, he summoned Shouwang and said, “I have obtained a Zhou vessel.
」侍中虞丘壽王獨曰：「非周鼎。
The court officers all believe it to be a Zhou vessel; only you believe that it is not.
」上聞之，召而問曰：「朕得周鼎，群臣皆以為周鼎，而壽王獨以為非，何也? 壽王有說則生，無說則死。」
If you have an explanation for this, you shall live; if you don’t you shall die.
