We have not enjoyed the advantage of living in the Ji realm or the Yan realm46 but have had to cling instead to a remote area by the sea coast, where we have had to drive foreign tribes away to make a dwelling place and where dragons and water serpents have contended with us for a living.
」諸發曰：「彼越亦天子之封也：不得冀、兗之州，乃處海垂之際，屏外蕃以為居，而蛟龍又與我爭焉，是以剪髮文身，爛然成章，以像龍子者，將避水神也。
