過隧斬岸，過水折舟，過谷發梁，過山焚萊，示民無返志也。

至於有戎之隧，大風折旆，散宜生諫曰：「此其妖歟？
」武王曰：「非也！
San Yi Sheng104 spoke to him about it, saying, “Could this be the work of demons?” “That’s not it,” said King Wu.
天落兵也。
“This shows that Heaven is sending down weapons [for us].” When the wind ceased, a deluge of rain followed that covered the earth and made the roads impassable.
」風霽而乘以大雨，水平地而嗇，散宜生又諫曰：「此其妖歟？
San Yi Sheng again asked, “Could this be the work of demons?” “That’s not it,” said King Wu.
」武王曰：「非也！
天洒兵也。
“This shows that Heaven is raining down weapons.” When the matter was put to the test of the turtle shell, the marks on the shell disappeared.
」卜而龜熸，散宜生又諫曰：「此其妖歟？
“Could this be the work of demons?” San Yi Sheng asked again. “This is of no benefit to the prognosticator,” replied King Wu, “but it is very advantageous with regard to the business of attacking enemy hordes.
」武王曰：「不利以禱祠，利以擊眾，是熸之已。
」故武王順天地、犯三妖，而禽紂於牧野，其所獨見者精也。
It means that they will be obliterated.” Thus, we can see that it was entirely owing to his acute perceptiveness that King Wu was able to act in harmony with heaven and earth, brave three adverse portents, and capture Zhòu upon the plain of Mu Ye.105 100 Nan Chao 南巢: five kilometers northeast of present-day Chao district, Anhui.
