The state of Wu, please note, is very wealthy and enjoys an excess of possessions.
與我，則吳可取也。
Wu’s ruler113 is eager for fame and doesn’t think of future consequences.
」越王從之。
If we use humble words and precious gifts to seek permission to purchase grain from Wu, Wu will be certain to do as we ask.
If they do as we ask, Wu will be vulnerable to seizure.” The king of Yue did as Si Shui suggested.
