壽命死者，不可去也；癰疽死者，不可去也。
Death from hunger and thirst can be eliminated, death from freezing cold can be eliminated, and death from weaponinflicted wounds can be eliminated; but death from old age cannot be eliminated, and death from malignant tumors cannot be eliminated.
饑渴死者，中不充也；凍寒死者，外勝中也；罹五兵死者，德不忠也；壽命死者，歲數終也；癰疽死者，血氣窮也。
Death from hunger and thirst arises from failure to master internal processes; death from freezing cold arises from the defeat of internal processes by external forces; death from weapon-inflicted wounds arises from failure to maintain one’s virtue; death from old age occurs because the end of one’s predestined years of life has arrived; and death from malignant tumors arises from the depletion of one’s blood-borne vitality.
The meaning is that driving a carriage compels one to bend slightly, as if one were being reverential.
