孔子曰：「船非水不可行。
Kongzi said, “A boat cannot travel without water, but, if the water enters the boat, it will sink.
水入船中，則其沒也。
故曰：君子不可不嚴也，小人不可不閑也。」
Thus, it can be seen that a man of quality must remain sternly aloof and that one cannot but take precautions in dealing with petty people.
