咳吐自成珠。
被褐怀金玉，
Their spittles are regarded as real pearls. Always scorned are sages in their rags —
兰蕙化为刍。
贤者虽独悟，
Their jewels are thrown away like garbage bags. Though wise men alone can see the right,
所困在群愚。
且各守尔分，
They are cornered by fools who lack insight. Keep your place and hold your tongue,
勿复空驰驱。
哀哉复哀哉，
Don't run about and heed the wrong. Alas and alack for the man of worth!
此是命矣夫！
Such is the fate since his very birth.
