While valley winds are waling loud and chill.
风声一何盛，
Undaunted fierce, fierce the wind is blowing!
松枝一何劲!
Unshaken strong, strong the pine is growing!
冰霜正惨凄，
Although the ice and ghostly frost appears,
终岁常端正。
The pine tree stands upright throughout the years.
岂不罹凝寒？
Does it fear not the bitter freezing cold?
松柏有本性。
The pine, like cypress, is by its nature bold.
