被服正有常。
尊卑设次序，
Always dressed in the conventional way. They use the ranking orders as their tools
事物齐纪纲。
容饰整颜色，
And act in accordance with order every day. They follow ways of manners learned in schools
磬折执圭璋。
堂上置玄酒，
And bow and scrape and always seem to obey. In the sitting hall they place ritual wine;
室中盛稻粱。
外厉贞素谈，
In the dining room they eat all day long. In public, they mouth words both sweet and fine;
户内灭芬芳。
放口从表出，
At home, they do deeds both vile and wrong. Now they talk news heard from the grapevine;
复说道义方。
Then they preach and lecture hard and strong.
