明朝弄梳台，
黛眉类扫迹。

浓朱衍丹唇，
黄吻澜漫赤。
On her lips so much of rouge is overspread That her small mouth becomes a stretch of red.
娇语若连琐，
忿速乃明慬。
When she is happy, her dainty speech will last; When she is angry, her grudge is hard and fast.
握笔利彤管，
篆刻末期益。
She likes the red pen-holder in her hand, But does not expect a good command.
执书爱绨素，
诵习矜所获。
She loves the silk instead of loving books And reads a passage with contented looks.
其姊字惠芳，
面目灿如画。
Her elder sister is called Huifang by all, Her face as fair as pictures on the wall.
轻妆喜楼边，
临镜忘纺绩。
She makes up lightly at the window-sill And drops her spinning when she gazes at will.
举解拟京兆，
立的成复易。
She paints her brows with a drawing-pen And dots her beauty-spots time and again.
玩弄眉颊间，
剧兼机杼役。
The way she does her make-up in the room Is like the way she works hard at the loom.
从容好起舞，
延袖象飞翩。
She learns Zhao dances in an easy way, Stretching her long sleeves like birds at play.
上下弦柱际，
文史辄卷裳。
The lute on the table takes up so much place That the books are put away in the case.
顾眄屏风画，
如见已指摘。
When she looks at paintings on the screen, She makes her comments on what she has seen.
