先师有遗训，
Of all the concerns in the human race,
忧道不忧贫。
Food and clothing take the foremost place.
瞻望邈难逮，
If I am not engaged in tasks like these,
转欲患长勤。
How am I to rest in peace and ease?
秉未欢时务，
When spring began, I worked hard in the fields,
解颜劝农人。
I could expect abundant yearly yields.
