东方未明，颠倒衣裳。

颠之倒之，自公召之。

For orders come from ducal crown. / Before the east is bright, For orders bring disorder and alarm. / Or leave me early in twilight. / The way to Lu is plain;

东方未晞，颠倒裳衣。

倒之颠之，自公令之。

Your sister with her train / Goes to wed Duke of Lu. Why should you go there too? / The shoes are made in pairs

折柳樊圃，狂夫瞿瞿。

不能辰夜，不夙则莫。

And strings of gems she wears. / The way to Lu is plain; / Your sister goes to reign And wed with Duke of Lu. / Why should you follow her too?
