That is no way for a ruler to make his position secure.
今君不愛萬夫之命，而傷一人之死，奚其過也？
His death was self-sought.
其臣已無道矣，其君亦不足惜也。」
But now you care nothing for the lives of the ten thousand people, but instead grieve for death of a single man. How mistaken that is!
Qi’s officers have assuredly acted wrongly, but Qi’s ruler is still not worth regretting.
