One who knows how to embody a quality in himself can obtain it from others as well.

知得之己者，亦知得之人。

所謂不出於環堵之室，而知天下者，知反之己者也。」

This is what is referred to as ‘not emerging from a walled compound and knowing the affairs of all the realm.’ It comes from being able to apply external observations to the self.
