Kongzi said, “You should be apprehensive, as if you were using rotten reins to restrain a galloping horse.” “Why must one be so fearful?” asked Zigong.
“Great and thriving states,” replied Kongzi, “are all composed of people.
」孔子曰:「夫通達之國皆人也,以道導之,則吾畜也,不以道導之,則吾讎也,若何而毋畏?」
If I use correct methods to guide them, they will be like animals that I have domesticated; but, if I do not use correct methods to guide them, they will be my enemies.
How can one not be fearful?
