江乙往見安陵纏曰：「子之先人，豈有矢石之功於王乎？
」曰：「無有。

」曰：「僕不知所以。
“I have no idea how it happened,” said Anling Chan. “I have heard,” said Jiang Yi, “that one who uses wealth to serve another will be looked upon with indifference once his wealth is gone and that one who uses his fine appearance to serve another will suffer loss of love once his blossoms have fallen to the ground.
」江乙曰：「吾聞之，以財事人者，財盡而交疏；以色事人者，華落而愛衰。
The good looks that you now possess will after a time drop away.
今子之華，有時而落，子何以長幸無解於王乎？
」安陵纏曰：「臣年少愚陋，願委質於先生。
What will you do to enjoy favor in perpetuity and not lose your connection with the king?” “I am young and ignorant,” said Anling Chan. “I would love to profit from your wisdom.” “The only thing that will do,” said Jiang Yi, is to show yourself willing to follow the king in death.” “I shall respectfully carry out your command,” said Anling Chan. 」江乙曰：「獨從為殉可耳。
」安陵纏曰：「敬聞命矣！

居期年，逢安陵纏，謂曰：「前日所諭子者，通之於王乎？

」居期年，江乙復見安陵纏曰：「子豈諭王乎？」
