When Chu attacked Chen, Jin came to Chen’s rescue.

因令晉軍曰：「楚遁矣！
The armies of the two states were arrayed against each other on opposite sides of the Di River.
」使人告商臣曰：「子上受晉賂而去之。
」商臣訴之成王，成王遂殺之。
Yang Chu-fu of Jin142 knew that Shang Chen bore a grudge against Zishang, so he said to the latter, “Withdraw your forces a bit; I will cross the river and follow you.” Zishang withdrew, whereupon Chu-fu shouted to his troops, “Chu is running away!” He had a man go and make a report to Shang Chen, saying, “Zishang took a bribe from Jin and left.” Shang Chen reported this to King Cheng [of Chu], and the latter had Zishang killed.
