弟子曰：「子夏有蓋，可以行。
A disciple said, “Zixia has an awning; it can be used for the trip.” “The shortcoming in Shang’s character,” said Kongzi, “lies in his fondness for possessions.
」孔子曰：「商之為人也，甚短於財。
吾聞與人交者推其長者，違其短者，故能久長矣。」
I have heard that, when associating with others, one must emphasize their strong points and avoid their shortcomings; only thus can one carry on over long periods.
