書曰：「五事：一曰貌。
」貌者，男子之所以恭敬，婦人之所以姣好也。
行步中矩，折旋中規。
立則磬折，拱則抱鼓。
其以入君朝，尊以嚴；其以入宗廟，敬以忠；其以入鄉曲，和以順；其以入州里族黨之中，和以親。
詩曰：「溫溫恭人，惟德之基。
」孔子曰：「恭近於禮，遠恥辱也。」
A passage in the Documents says, “Of the five ways of serving others, the first is through demeanor (mao 貌).
