連村綠暗晚藏烏。
The leaves of jute and hemp are thick and lush in this land;
黃童白叟聚睢盱。
The scent of boiling cocoons in the village spreads.
麋鹿逢人雖未慣，
Across the fence young maidens prate while reeling threads.
猿猱聞鼓不須呼。
An old man raises dim-sighted eyes, cane in hand;
歸來說與采桑姑。
He picks new wheat so that his hunger he may ease.
