Four or five of them are grandest of the clan.
And if you ask me who is buried here,
I say the man is either king or peer.
The royal tombs rise high and far between,
Overgrown with wild grass lush and green.
In riotous years, upheavals rose in the court;
Like jackals and tigers, those usurpers fought.
Seriously damaged were more than one grave;
Then, from the hall the diggers dug the cave.
They robbed the king's remains of jewelry coats;
The pearls were robbed and plundered by cutthroats.
There remains the debris of mausoleum halls;
There remains nothing of the former walls.
Thorns and thistles overgrow the tombs,
With paths where urchin plays and scholar roams.
Hares and foxes dig their holes in the graveyards,
