仲秋始霜雪。
In middle autumn it starts to frost and snow.
从军乏衣粮，
Enlisted in the army, I’m so poor
方冬与家别。
That till early winter I start my tour.
萧条背乡心，
Away from home alone I go
凄怆清渚发。
And set sail from Houzhu in grief and woe.
凉埃晦平皋，
The chilly mist has dimmed the riverside
飞潮隐修樾。
While forest shadows vanish in the tide.
孤光独徘徊，
When the lonely sun traverses the sky,
空烟视升灭。
Clouds gather and disperse before my eye.
途随前峰远，
While future cares weigh heavy on my mind,
意逐后云结。
My home thoughts linger with the clouds behind.
华志分驰年，
My ardours vanish with the passing year;
韶颜惨惊节。
My prime of life will shortly disappear.
推琴三起叹，
When I lay aside my lute and sigh,
声为君断绝。
The tunes stop short and I stand idly by.
