沅水桃花色，
With coloured sails afloat upon the lake. The Yuanshui Stream is like a peach in prime;
湘流杜若香。
穴去茅山近，
The Xiangjiang Stream is sweet for pollia's sake. The lake caves lead to Mount Maoshan close by;
江连巫峡长。
带天澄迥碧，
From Wuxia Valley its clear waters run. Far, far away the lake melts with the azure sky
映日动浮光。
行舟遥远树，
And glitters with quivering lights of the sun. My sailboat anchors, facing distant trees
度鸟息危檣。
滔滔不可测，
While a small bird perches on the mast. The waves and billows make me ill at ease;
一苇岂能航？
How can a tiny sailboat brave the blast?
