The wooded hills are where the hermits roam.

The noble mansions are of no account;

I’d rather live alone on Penglai

Mount.

I’ll scoop clear waters when

I reach the rill;

I’ll pick magic herb when

I climb the hill.

Since there is a sacred place near at hand,

I have no need to seek immortal land.

Master Zhuangzi lived a hermit's life;

Master Laolai retired with his dear wife.

I may climb the social ladder if
