七彩芙蓉之羽帐，
A feather drape of coloured hibiscus
九华蒲萄之锦衾。
And quilts adorned with grape designs and lace.
红颜零落岁将暮，
As red blooms fade when it comes to year’s end,
寒光宛转时欲沉。
So old age comes when life has run its race.
愿君裁悲且减思，
I hope you’ll trim your grief and cut your woe,
听我抵节行路吟。
And turn your ears to journey songs with grace.
不见柏梁铜雀上，
On ancient royal platforms for the feasts,
宁闻古时清吹音。
The pleasant music leaves not any trace.
洛阳名工铸为金博山，
A famous coppersmith in Luoyang made
千斫复万镂，
An incense burner sculpted and carved
上刻秦女携手仙。

承君清夜之欢娱，

列置帏里明烛前。

外发龙鳞之丹彩，
Between curtains and candles the burner was laid.
内含麝芬之紫烟。
Its brilliant carving glistened in the light

While its musk incense scattered in the shade.
