人马风尘色，
知从河塞还。
Slowly comes to my gate with a load. From his weather-beaten skin and face,
结宦游邯郸。
将不异客子，
I know that he comes from the border place. He calls to my mind my beloved man,
分饥复共寒。
烦君尺帛书，
The traveller is treated as an honoured guest, Who shares the cold and hunger with the rest.
寸心从此殚。
遣妾长憔悴，
I ask him to bring a letter for me, In which I bare my heart for him to see.
岂复歌笑颜。
檐隐千霜树，
The letter says, “You make me pine away, With no smile on my face from day to day.
庭枯十载兰。
经春不举袖，
The thousand-year tree in the court has died; The ten-year orchid in the yard has dried.
秋落宁复看？
一见愿道意，
If you don’t gather flowers in spring days, What is left on trees in autumn phase?
君门已九关。
虞卿弃相印，
“Please bring my best wishes to my man, Telling him to make retreat while he can.
担箜为同欢。
闺阴欲早霜，
Even a prime minister may resign Because the peaceful married life is fine.
何事空盘桓？
As lonely blooms fade at an early date,
