§党在过渡时期总路线和总任务，是要在十年到十五年或者更多一些时间内，基本上完成国家工业化和对农业、手工业、资本主义工商业的社会主义改造。
#§The general line or the general task of the Party for the transition period is basically to accomplish the industrialization of the country and the socialist transformation of agriculture, handicrafts and capitalist industry and commerce in ten to fifteen years, or a little longer.
不要脱离这条总路线， 脱离了就要发生“左”倾或右倾的错误。
# Do not depart from this general line, otherwise "Left" or Right mistakes will occur.
§有人认为过渡时期太长了，发生急躁情绪。
#§Some people think the period of transition is too long and give way to impatience.
有人在民主革命成功以后，仍然停留在原来的地方。
# Others have remained where they were after the victory of the democratic revolution.
他们没有懂得革命性质的转变，还在继续搞他们的“新民主主义”，不去搞社会主义改造。
# They fail to realize there is a change in the character of the revolution and they go on pushing their "New Democracy" instead of socialist transformation.
就农业来说，社会主义道路是我国农业唯一的道路。
# Take our agriculture for instance, the socialist road is the only road for it.
发展互助合作运动，不断地提高农业生产力，这是党在农村中工作的中心。
# The Party's central task in the rural areas is to develop the mutual-aid and co-operative movement and constantly raise productivity in agriculture.
§右倾的表现有这样三句话：
#§The Right deviation manifests itself in three remarks:
§“确立新民主主义社会秩序”。
#§"Firmly establish the new-democratic social order."
过渡时期每天都在变动，每天都在发生社会主义因素。
# In the transition period changes are taking place all the time and socialist factors are emerging every day.
比如私营工商业，正在改造，今年下半年要“立”一种秩序，明年就不“确”了。
# For instance, private industry and commerce are being transformed, and if an order is "established" in the second half of the year, it will no longer hold "firm" next year.
过渡时期充满着矛盾和斗争。
# The period of transition is full of contradictions and struggles.
我们现在的革命斗争，甚至比过去的武装革命斗争还要深刻。
# Our present revolutionary struggle is even more profound than the revolutionary armed struggle of the past.
这是要把资本主义制度和一切剥削制度彻底埋葬的一场革命。
# It is a revolution that will bury the capitalist system and all other systems of exploitation once and for all.
“确立新民主主义社会秩序”的想法，是不符合实际斗争情况的，是妨碍社会主义事业的发展的。
# The idea, "Firmly establish the new-democratic social order", goes against the realities of our struggle and hinders the progress of the socialist cause
走向而已，年年走向，一直到十五年还叫走向？
# Moving towards the goal and nothing more, moving towards it year in year out and still moving towards it after a lapse of fifteen years?
走向就是没有达到。
# Merely moving towards it means that the goal has not been reached.
这种提法，看起来可以，过细分析，是不妥当的。
# The formulation sounds plausible but does not bear scrutiny.
因为中农怕“冒尖”，怕“共产”，就有人提出这一口号去安定他们。
# Since the middle peasants are afraid of "becoming too conspicuous" and having their property "communized", some people have raised this slogan to put them at ease .
所谓逐步者，共分十五年，一年又有十二个月。
# When we say "step-by-step", we mean that the steps are to be spread out over fifteen years and over the twelve months in each year.
走得太快，“左”了；不走，太右了。
# Going too fast means erring to the "Left", standing still means erring too much to the Right.
要反“左”反右，逐步过渡，最后全部过渡完。
# We must oppose "Left" and Right deviations and make a step-by-step transition until the whole process is completed.
