O King Wen was so grand! Having overthrown Chong, / He fixed his town at Feng. O may King Wen live long! King Wen built moat and wall / Around the capital Not for his own desire But for those of his sire. O our prince we admire! / King Wen at capital Strong as the city wall, The lords from state to state / Paid homage to prince great. Our royal prince was great. The River Feng east flowed; / Our thanks to Yu we owed. The lords from land to land Paid homage to king grand. How great did King Wu stand! / He built water-girt hall At Hao the capital. North to south, east to west, / By people he was blest. King Wu was at his crest. The king divined the site; / The tortoise-shell foretold it right To build the palace hall At Hao the capital. King Wu was admired by all. / By River Feng white millet grew. How could talents not serve King Wu? All that he'd planned and done / Was for the son and grandson. King Wu was second to none.
