子路曰：「不能甘勤苦，不能恬貧窮，不能輕死亡，而曰我能行義，吾不信也。

不能勤苦，安能行此？
曾子布衣缊袍未得完，糟糠之食、藜藿之羹，未得飽，義不合則辭上卿。
不恬貧窮，安能行此？
比干將死而諫逾忠，伯夷、叔齊餓死於首陽而志逾彰。
不輕死亡，安能行此？
