When Dun died, his son Shuo inherited his ministership.
朔取成公姊為夫人。
By the third year in the reign of Lord Jing, Shuo had become a general in Jin and had taken the elder sister of Lord Cheng70 as his consort.
大夫屠岸賈欲誅趙氏。
The officer Tu’an Gu wanted to exterminate the clan of Zhao.
初，趙盾在時，夢見叔帶持龜要而哭，甚悲；已而咲，拊手且歌。
In earlier times, when Zhao Dun was alive, he had a dream in which he saw Shu Dai72 clutching his waist and weeping in a piteous manner; then, ceasing to weep, he laughed and sang an air, clapping the rhythm with his hands.
盾卜之，占兆絕而后好。
Dun had the matter put to the test of the tortoise shell.
趙史援占曰：「此甚惡，非君之身，乃君之子，然亦君之咎也。
The crack produced was broken but then continued.
」至子趙朔世益衰。
Yuan, the Zhao diviner, interpreted the result: “This is very bad; it will not affect you but rather your offspring; nevertheless, it will arise from your guilt.” In the generation of Dun’s son Shuo, conditions worsened.
屠岸賈者，始有寵於靈公，及至於晉景公，而賈為司寇，將作難，乃治靈公之賊，以致趙盾，遍告諸將曰：「趙穿弒靈公，盾雖不知，猶為首賊。
The officer Tu’an Gu originally enjoyed favor under Lord Ling of Jin and later, in the reign of Lord Jing, became minister of crime.
臣殺君，子孫在朝，何以懲罪？
As a prelude to instigating disorder, he prosecuted Lord Ling’s assassin so as to fix guilt on Zhao Dun. He made an announcement to all the generals, saying, “When Zhao Chuan assassinated Lord Ling, Zhao Dun, though unaware of it, was nevertheless the main perpetrator.
請誅之。」
When a minister kills his ruler and his descendants remain at court, how can crimes be punished?
