水茫茫，
Water runs till unseen;
大孤小孤江中央。
In the midst of the stream two lonely isles stand high.
崖崩路絕猿鳥去，
Fallen crags bar the way;
惟有喬木摟天長。
Birds and apes cannot stay;
客舟何處來？
Only the giant trees tower into the sky.
棹歌中流聲抑揚。
From where comes a sail white?
沙平風軟望不到，
In mid-stream rises oarsmen's undulating song.
孤山久與船低昂。
Sand bar is flat, the wind is weak, no boat in sight,
峨峨兩煙鬟，
The Lonely Isles sink and swim with the sail for long,
曉鏡開新妝。
Like mist-veiled tresses of a pretty lass
舟中賈客莫漫狂，
Using the river as her looking glass.
小姑前年嫁彭郎。
O merchant in the boat, don't go mad for the fair! / The Lonely Isle and Gallant Hill are a well-matched pair.
