The Conference has before it a note by the secretariat containing information on the status of implementation of the Rotterdam Convention by Parties and participating States (UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.2/6).

The Conference may wish to take note of the progress made in implementation and consider whether further efforts are required to encourage implementation by Parties.

At its first meeting, in decision RC-1/6, the Conference of the Parties established the Chemical Review Committee and agreed on a list of Parties that would each formally designate one expert, whose name and qualifications would be provided to the secretariat by 1 December 2004.
