In the framework of the Second Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples, a grant contribution of $145,000 was extended to the InterPress Service news agency to raise awareness about poor rural communities of indigenous peoples in Latin America and to build the capacity of local journalists in Latin America and Southern Africa to advocate with and for indigenous peoples and provide them with the necessary tools.
